I have been on blogger learning class today. Ever since Jacinta made my blog a three column blog I have never been able to get my header to fit across the page - nobody has ever been rude enough to comment. I have re-photographed it and reloaded it all to no avail - so today I decided to pop up my Shanghai vessel which is quite a different structure. I had managed a few weeks back to delete feedburner for subscribing and had given up trying to find the code until Teresa told me she had changed her address but couldn't find the place to add her new one. So I spent some time searching and finally success. Hope you got there Teresa....
Then I have been setting up the blog for Hot Needles Cool Stitches and I hope to be able to invite all the class tomorrow. Thanks to Lisa I got a few things sorted - maybe it is the heat which has fried my thinking brain..... Just to make a video in the morning before it gets too hot. I have still got my blogger training shoes on though - things don't stay static these days for sure....
Why the rose? Well I do love them and I buy a bunch quite often - never expensive - there were $10 and I have been creating the start of my slow cloth in those glorious pale colours I call Vanilla Beans and Old Roses. Before you ask, this is my sample sari ribbon - the order is not here yet and I haven't heard as to when but I will tell you in loud letters when they are coming. I have created a piece 80cm long
all woven and at this stage stitched across each row. These lovely old saris are quite fragile so it is going to be something rather fragile to work on.
I plan lots more stitching and lots of tiny stitching and some image transfer and not quite sure what else yet. Maybe some words - yes I think so.
Last night it was too hot to have our bbq so we went down the road for honey prawns. It is probably going to be too hot tonight as well but I have the lamb cutlets all marinating in spices etc. Might have to cook indoors.
A shipment from India arrived on Friday but it was only half of the order - lots more silk twist and the first of the Mayuri silk yarn. Luscious.

I read your blog via my RSS reader so I never notice any changes in your layout. However, visiting your blog today, I noticed that your vessel image pretty much takes up all of my laptop screen and I have to scroll down to read the fresh content. This is not an optimal approach - you're better to go with an image that is long and skinny...
I agree with Brenda - I have always been able to see your header across the page but the beautiful vessel takes up the left quarter of my page - but I do have one of those small laptops. I know the problems - I have had the same with mine.!...
Those are really pretty colours in the sari ribbon. I think I might have to splash out and get some when you get them in. Blessings, Johoanna
Love the new header even if it doesn't look the way you want it to. I can't alter anything on my blog and my daughter set it up for me - I'm a computer dimwit! The woven silk cloth is looking beautiful already - it is so interesting to see the various stages of a piece of work. Love the sound of that order from India. I'm saying 'keep warm' to everyone in the northern hemisphere, but for you it's 'keep cool'!
I love the new header! It's a beautiful vessel. Your woven slow cloth looks beautiful already and I do love to see your sunny roses when it is so grey over here :-)
I keep looking at your temps! So far thank goodness it hasnt got here, we are cool but windy.
Love that Sari silk, save some for me when it comes in.
I have decided I am both a blogger and face book dimwit when it comes to new things.
Hi Dale - I too have spent hours in blogger school over the last few days. Something (?) had happened to my template during my absence from blogging last year so I thought I would just spent a few minutes tidying it up. What a mistake - it took hours as I don't understand the stuff behind it all and so trial and error and reading crytic help screens were the only way to go. I did manage to make my header fit my template in the end but I am not sure that I know what I did but I think it was just by resizing it (until it fitted) via the design options. I think you are using the old Minima style blogger layout and although it is a pain making the change the new blogger template designer does make things a bit easier. You can still pick a simple design. PS Your vessel is stunning but I too like headers that are wide rather than deep although I must admit most of my blog reading is done via Google Reader these days due to time limitations. All the best for 2011!
beautiful!
Very glad I stopped by from cwb to see this gorgeous silk work...do so wish I could touch it & a most perfect name you've chosen for it, too!
Hi Dale,
Such lovely colours!!! I am always looking for these rose colours in the handdyes, please post when they arrive as I would love to buy some!..
About your header I have been able to go into the "html" area on my blog and resize my header...just look for the word "header" and see the size there, and delete it or alter it to your preferred size. Although it does need to be an oblong to look better, if you were clever enough to find the "left" instruction there as well you could alter that to "centre": as well..
You could also use photo image like your kodak/image zone whatever you have to work with when you load photos to your computer, and resize the photo to smaller to fit better?..xx ...julia
