under the pump with a bright outlook

We are a bit under the pump at present but I will tell you about the bright outlook tomorrow. It does entail togs and sunscreen though. In the meantime there is so much to do and so little time to do it. However, excitement today meant stop everything - Maggie's new book from Image to Stitch arrived this morning - I wasn't expecting it for a few weeks and won't be able to do more than drool until Wednesday although of course I managed to have a few sticky beaks whilst eating my lunch and now I have a copy finger marked as my own. Ian has nearly got it on the website and he says today. It looks fantastic and just what we need. I have decided Maggie must have more time on her hands than I do......

Margaret, Helen, Ann and Marion are here from Christchurch for a week (they go home tonight) and we have seen them a few times. Bruce came with us all last night for a meal out at the Phi Yen just down the road. This morning Ian took out to Sadleirs the boxes I had packed for the trade show in Sydney - not this coming weekend but the next one.

STOP PRESS - under the pump just means under pressure - I have no idea where it comes from but it has been around for a long time so it may be aussie or it may be kiwi but it seems to be part of my existence.

Is that an Aussie expression - "under the pump"? Very evocative but please could you clarify the actual meaning? Thanks from a curious Pom!

I wondered about the pump, too. Us poms would be more refined - probably below the power-shower!

What cheek - you've got your book order before me. Hope this means that it's at the wholesalers and will soon be here. At least they gave me an author copy. Glad ypu like it.

The illustration on the cover is enough to make me drool, I can see the credit card taking another hammering! Don't know how either of you finds enough time to do the things you do. Cheers, Robin
