ducks and books and sewing

Mandy had some visitors arrive overnight - aren't they cute? Means your pool will be in good use, Mandy and justify the cleaning of it!

We had the new book from Jane Dunnewold, Clare Benn and Leslie Morgan arrive - Metal Leaf Lamination - another superb book - I shall take mine to read on the plane to Geelong - I have resisted more than just whizzing through as I am supposed to be packing a suitcase or two for Geelong and sorting my workshop stuff. ETC.

Now I have a question of anyone who cares to answer - are people sewing? I don't mean embroidery machines, exciting hand and machine stitch - I mean actually making things with seams etc. I ask this because QA has a special issue magazine coming out in November - Stitch - and I also see that Stampington has one as well called Sew. So I curious as to the demand. Would you buy the QA one? I am having to make a decision on whether or not to stock it - we do have to bring in a minimum. I haven't sewn a garment for a number or years so I need some opinions.

Like you I haven't made a garment for years,Sew Somerset is a fantastic mag, but it isn't clothes, it's like Somerset Studio but using fabric.

I used to sew garments but somehow I never seemed to like them once I tried them on. I'm a jeans and t-shirt person anyway which is probably why I didn't like what I was making. Save my sewing machines for more exciting stuff now! Maggi

Dale!

Yes please I'd like a copy of QA Stitch. Sewing? Well I've not sew clothes or furnishings for years; I have two daughters who would love to sew but earning a crust doesn't allow them time; likewise two grand daughters who sew but are doing medical studies so sewing is out.

I only know one person who sews for self and daughter; of a dozen friend I know none sew and most young one wouldn't sew to save themselves.

The only thing I sew these days is taking up hems (boring stuff I mean)so don't get the QA book on my behalf because it wouldn't get read anyway.
I still have a pile of CPS mags that I have only skimmed over.
Yuk who has time to read anyway.

I don't know anyone who sews 'properly' any more. I used to make stuff for my daughter when she was tiny but then it got so cheap to buy. I'd be glad if more folk did sew as all our fabric shops are closing down.

I still make a lot of my own clothes. We are lucky to have an amazing fabric shop not too far away.

I don't sew clothes, but do sew quilts etc. If the mags are not focused on clothes, I would be interested.

Hi Dale, I don't sew for myself as they never seem to look right when they're finished, BUT I have just bought a tailors dummy so that I can develop the fabrics I'm coming up with into garments.
