Tragedy

These are my velvet red shoes bought about 15 years ago - so lovely. I was in the Merivale Mall in ChCh talking to Ian on the phone (he was home in Perth) and I saw them in the window of a shop so I truncated my call and bought them.

But alas I popped them on last night and they felt strange - the soles have rotted away. Quel tragedie!

Harley has discovered a new spot - outside the kitchen window looking in at us

Sad story. It happened to me last autumn when I noticed part of the heel of a shoe in the carpark where we had stopped. I didn't realise till we got home that it was mine!

If I understand cat, I believe Harley is asking you to open the window and make a new cat entrance/exit. ;-)

Really sad about your gorgeous red shoes. I can understand how special they were to you.

Are you sure they are not fixable? There are still places that do that.

Oh dear, you have my sympathy, that happened to me with a favourite pair of boots while I was at a conference in Adelaide. thank goodness I was able to purchase another very good pair immediately. Cheers.

If you can find one, an old-fashioned cobbler/shoe maker could probably make new soles for them. Especially as they are so gorgeous. They might make nice house slippers if you take all the original stuff off and put on new ones. There are places on the interweb that sell such things. All may not be lost.

What is it with soles? Two of my boots gave up the ghost this year for the same reason... though I managed to get a few extra months' wear out of one of them with this wonderful stuff called Shoe Goo... bit like a heavy glue that you put on in layers and let it dry. Didn't work for the other one unfortunately, as it was completely split like yours.
