I know there are lots of people in other parts of the world who are having snow (lucky them) and fogs and closed airports and motorways, but here in Perth we are having the hottest Christmas period since 1915 (and I wasn't alive to agree or disagree with that although I know it wouldn't have been very comfortable). These days we have the luxury of air conditioning and yesterday which got to 40.7 we decided early on that we would forgo our outside Christmas sojourn and move into my luxurious studio with its air con and where it was not far to gather all the pressies from under the tree.... and we appreciated it even more whenever we had to carry things to and from the kitchen, or in Ian's case, when he had to attend to the Webber. In the excitement of everything, we forgot to take any photos so you will have to imagine us enjoying ourselves, eating huge prawns, roast lamb, roast pork, multitude of roast vegies and salad, followed by pavlova (which we all know was first invented in NZ but we won't argue at this festive time....), Des Britten ice cream which Kazuko tells me is the best one yet and Summer Pudding. As the Christmas tree fell over once more I have decided that next year there will be a new one....
We all got lots of lovely goodies and Ian and I were very indulged by Grant who gave us a Sonos system so I can have music in the studio and Ian can listen to his own choice in the house. Most of my time today has been loading our cds into the system with many more to go in the next few days. Then we have had to learn how to use it! Kazuko and Bruce gave us a water filter which is also super since we have decided we should be drinking lots of water and I don't like Perth's tap water very much. The old stereo system has been moved out and I can hear all sorts of discussion about speakers, plasma tvs, furniture etc.
Today we have stayed indoors - Ian got a new hand lawn mower which he went out to test on the front lawn but only lasted a short while. Then we have discovered it got to over 44 degrees today with not a great deal of relief for the next week. Think we might go swimming tomorrow but you need to go before its hot or it defeats the purpose!
Tomorrow after all this excitement I am off to work in my studio...

Wow that's hot... It' nice here in England - a bright cold sunny clear day. But as you say there was a couple of days of very bad fog which closed some airports and delayed lots of flights.
What great pressies too. Sounds like you had a great time.
Best wishes to you for a happy and healthy 2008.
Because john insists on taking the laptop with him wherever he goes,( I think to worry about money,) we did see your temperatures and reveled in a warm day with a sea breeze. Wonderful Christmas weather, just back from a walk on the beach while the other two sillies get hot on the golf course and made a jazzy pair of earrings. Bliss but home tomorrow.
We tie the top of our tree to one of the beams in the ceiling just in case it decides to do the toppler trick.
